Dock log No. 6 — insurance certificates

Dock log, Sep 22.

Insurance certificates.

Drop a photo or a PDF into the copilot and pick the boat. It files it and reads it. The card below is a phone photo of one of our sample certificates: insurer, policy number, cover period, coverage, limit, and whether the marina is named as insured. It fills in the expiry date and asks you to check it before saving.

Testing it on real paper found two bugs our clean samples never did. A BC driver's licence prints dates like 1993-Sep-06, and our date parser refused it. Licences also print SURNAME, GIVEN NAMES, and we were keeping the comma. Both fixed.

It also used to ask the AI twice, "what is this" and then "what does it say". Now it's one call.

What the copilot read off a sample certificate

If your insurer's certificate looks nothing like the usual ones, tell me who they are and we'll test against that layout.
